LEMs (Limbic Enhancement Membranes) are permanent character augmentations that provide passive bonuses across three stat categories. Installed at the LEM Station inside your habitat, they are one of the most powerful progression systems in StarRupture. This guide covers all known LEMs, how to obtain them, and the best augmentation builds.

How LEMs Work

LEMs are organized into three stat tracks, each with its own color: Combat (Red), Movement (Blue), and Survival (Green). LEM slots unlock at skill levels 5, 25, 40, 65, 85, and 100 within each stat track, allowing up to six augmentations per category for a maximum of 18 total slots. LEMs come in multiple rarities: Lesser, Supporter, Standard, and Greater, with increasing effect strength at each tier.

Where to Find LEMs

LEMs can be found in abandoned bases scattered across Arcadia-7, dropped by defeated Vermin enemies, or earned as corporation level rewards (particularly from Future Health Solutions). Exploring Points of Interest thoroughly is the best way to collect LEMs in the early game. Higher-rarity LEMs tend to drop from tougher enemies and are found in more remote, dangerous locations.

Combat LEMs (Red)

The Greater Scalper increases item drop rate by 40%, making it excellent for farming Biofacts and rare materials. The Lesser Scalper provides a smaller drop rate bonus for earlier availability. The Greater Swapper increases weapon swap speed by 35%, invaluable for players who frequently switch between weapons during combat. The Damagegiver provides a flat damage increase to all attacks, boosting every weapon you use.

Movement LEMs (Blue)

The Endurancegiver increases maximum stamina by 50%, giving you significantly more sprinting capacity. The Lesser Endurancegiver provides +30 Max Stamina as an early alternative. The Runner grants +35% stamina regeneration rate, while the Lesser Runner provides +20% stamina regen. The Slidegiver is a specialized augment that grants +70% stamina regeneration during slides, rewarding aggressive slide-based combat movement. Movement LEMs are especially valuable for players who favor mobility-focused combat.

Survival LEMs (Green)

The Greater Lifegiver adds +40 Max HP, the Standard Lifegiver adds +25 Max HP, and the Lesser Lifegiver adds a smaller HP bonus. More health means more room for error during intense fights. The Shieldgiver family (Lesser at +20, Standard at +30, Supporter at +50 Max Shield) increases your regenerating shield buffer. Since shields regenerate automatically, higher shield capacity translates to better sustained survivability. The Healgiver provides passive health regeneration, reducing reliance on the Medtool or Regeneration Chamber.

For a combat-focused build, prioritize Damagegiver, Greater Scalper, and Greater Swapper in your Red slots. Fill Blue slots with Runner and Endurancegiver for repositioning speed. Fill Green slots with Lifegiver and Shieldgiver variants for durability.

For an exploration-focused build, load up on Movement LEMs: Endurancegiver, Runner, and Slidegiver let you sprint and slide across long distances without stopping. Add Survival LEMs for self-sustain during extended trips away from base.

For a tank build in co-op, stack every Survival LEM you can find: Greater Lifegiver, Supporter Shieldgiver, and Healgiver make you extremely hard to kill. This lets you draw Goliath aggro while teammates attack its backside.
